Most sport performance training coaches recognize that you can’t tangibly improve what you don’t measure. This is one of our bedrock principles at Athletic Lab. Most of our athletes and members should recognize this put in to practice in how we regularly test and retest on a variety of fitness or sport performance tests. So it goes without saying that at Athletic Lab, we are very metrics-based. We do this because we like to see hard quantifiable improvements and when we don’t, we like to make adjustments to ‘right the course.’ While the benefits of this seem clear for physical performance tracking it also holds true for a similarly goal-minded business like Athletic Lab. By checking in at Athletic Lab you help us improve and provide you a better service. While our staff attempt to double check and input training session and open gym attendance it’s estimated that at least 10% of attendance is missed. And as with physical performance tracking we need a complete picture of our performance. By checking in EVERY TIME at Athletic Lab you allow us to do the following:
- Better manage our service offerings. In the past we have added and removed classes or allocated more coaches to classes based on demand.
- Smarter equipment purchases. We have shown over the past 6 years that we are ALWAYS improving. Part of this progress is by always attempting to maintain and update our equipment. Each class type and session theme have slightly different equipment needs and by knowing the attendance metrics for each class type allows us to know whether we need to purchase more kettlebells, medicine balls, install turf, etc.
- Better use of staff. We regularly cross reference coaches, time slots and session type to see if certain coaches are more popular than others for particular class types. When we notice trends we place coaches in class types or session themes where they perform best.
- Better results tracking and personal accountability. There is a direct correlation with progress and attendance. The problem is many people aren’t aware of how frequently or infrequently they attend. By checking in, we have an accurate record of how often you attend which allows us to follow up and provide motivation to get back in and train.
- Better use of space. After our recent facility overhaul we are capable of having six distinct training areas: 1) the 3,500 sqft of turf, 2) the 2 lane 45m sprint track, 3) the front weight room, 4) the rear weight room, 5) the corner weight room, 6) and our 9 weightlifting platforms. We carefully attempt to design the class schedule so that space is maximized and session types have all the equipment and space they need for an uncompromised training experience.
Help us continue to provide the best possible training experience by checking in. It’s one of the best metrics we have to help us move forward and continue to improve. To checkin at our kiosk, type in your name and find the appropriate class. As some time slots have as many as 4 training sessions at the same time it’s important that you select the correct class. If you’re attending open gym or doing a prescribed workout outside of a scheduled session slot (open gym members, weightlifting team members, and CrossFit competition team members in particular!) we still need you to checkin. If you have any questions on how to checkin please speak to one of our staff.
