Athletic Lab is one of the premier fitness and performance training centers in the country. We have an energetic and diverse community ranging from fitness enthusiasts looking to get in the best shape of their lives to elite professional athletes. The commonality across our diverse member base is that they are hard-working and goal-oriented.
Each month we highlight one or more of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of June we’ve selected Elijah Dawes. Elijah Dawes is a track athlete that has recently committed to NC State Track & Field team, after overcoming a hip surgery through hard work and perseverance.
You can read about previous members of the month here.

What city were you born in? I was born in Blacksburg, VA but now live in Greensboro.
What do you do when you’re not training at Athletic Lab (occupation, hobbies, etc)? Video games, going to the movies, I’m a student, graduating from northwest Guilford High school on June 9.
What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite? Favorite is power clean; least favorite is core exercises
What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since you started training? I broke 48 seconds in the 400 meter sprint and that was a huge accomplishment, one that I had been working toward for a long time. Also, receiving a scholarship to run at NC State this fall has been really exciting. I couldn’t have done it without Joe Sheryak and Athletic Lab.
What motivates you in your training? Being successful in track and field is a big motivator. I set big goals for myself and when I reach those goals it just makes me want to work harder and do more in training. Knowing that goal is going to be hard to accomplish fuels me to keep going because doing the thing that’s really hard, and doing it well, is a great feeling.
