Athletic Lab is one of the premier performance centers in the country. We have a vibrant and diverse community ranging from fitness enthusiasts looking to get in the best shape of their lives to elite professional athletes. The common denominator across all our members is that they are hard-working and goal-oriented.

Each month we highlight one or more of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of December we’ve selected Kenny Stephens. Kenny is a long time member of the Athletic Lab Weightlifting team and he recently came 16th at the USA Weightlifting American Open Finals.

____________

Name: Kenneth Stephens

What city were you born in? Mobile, AL

What do you do when you’re not training at Athletic Lab (occupation, hobbies, etc)? Spending time with family and exploring different types of restaurants. Have to keep my Yelp elite status. 😎

What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite? I’ve developed an enjoyment of training variations of the snatch because of the complexity of the lift. My least favorite is ALL accessories work. 😅

How long have you been lifting? I’ve been lifting on the competitive side for about 6 years now.

What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since you started training? The ability to be consistent in training has been a big accomplishment. The sport of Olympic lifting is very demanding mentally and physically.

What motivates you in your training? It used to be the need to look better naked.😆 However, I now want to set an example for my son. No matter your age, shape, or size you can do some sort of training.
