Athletic Lab athlete Nicole Buckley has been selected to participate in the U.S. Field Hockey National Futures Championship. She was one of 36 field hockey players in her U16 age group chosen from the Southern Region, which includes Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Nicole was previously selected for the National Futures Championship in 2015 but was ineligible for the 2016 Championship due to an injury.
The National Futures Championship is the premier championship event for the U.S. Field Hockey Futures Program and is a highly attended event by college recruiters and USA Field Hockey high-performance staff. The Futures program is the U.S. Olympic development pipeline, which nearly all U.S. Women’s National Team members and Olympians have participated in.
Nicole has been playing field hockey for five years and is a key member for the Carolina All Stars Field Hockey Club Team and an active participant in Athletic Lab’s Scholastic Program. She has recently committed to Liberty University.
The 2017 National Futures Championship will be held in Lancaster, PA from June 20-29 where she will be placed on a team comprised of girls from all over the nation to be further evaluated for participation in additional elite field hockey training sessions and tournaments.
