Rebranding: An Inside Look at Our New Image by Devin Cornelius

[Devin Cornelius is currently in his final semester as a student-athlete at the University of Central Missouri, pursuing a Master's Degree in Sports Management. He is currently a Sports Management intern at Athletic Lab.] Initially, when I began brainstorming this blog post, I thought to look up the phrase "branding". Ironically, I meant Google "branding". Search engines have been a dime a dozen during my lifetime. I have seen advertisements for Yahoo, Bing and much more. However, every time I have ever searched for an answer to something, the colorful letters of Google were above the search bar. Google has branded itself and dominated its market so well that it is literally used as a verb. Other brands that dominate our society include Apple, Nike, Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Disney. In terms of successful branding, these companies have reached the pinnacle. Most of which find themselves on the 2017 list of Most Powerful Brands, carefully crafted by Brand Finance. As an honest consumer, I will openly admit that brand reputation has a significant impact on my decisions in purchasing and loyalty. There are certain brands that undoubtedly add value. Facility Etiquette

Etiquette is a code of behavior that defines expectations and behavior within a social group. Like most businesses, Athletic Lab has its own expected etiquette to ensure we can deliver an un-compromised experience for all our members. You can read about our session etiquette here. The following is our facility etiquette. This is a good a refresher to those who've been with us for awhile and a primer for those who are just joining us. These guidelines will help to make everyone's experience as amazing as possible. Following these guidelines will help us to keeping the facility organized and clean and the equipment in working order. Facility Etiquette Organization If you take it out. Put it back. There are only a couple of people (all young children) who come to Athletic Lab who can say their mom works here. Chances are, you're probably not one. If you take something out please make your mom proud and put it away. We pride ourselves on being the cleanest and most organized facility in the area. And much thought has gone in to the planning and layout of the facility to ensure that the space and workflow is optimized. This starts with having everything where it's expected to be. The most common items to be left out are jump-stretch bands, foam rollers, jump ropes, kettlebells and change plates. Put it back where it belongs. It's not just enough to put things away. Please put them back where you found them. In particular, bumper plates, bars and change plates are all distributed around the facility in a very specific manner to ensure they are available for the groups that need them. If you take extra bumper plates for heavy [...]
