Jason LeDoyen places third in Croatan 24

Congrats to Athletic Lab member Jason LeDoyen for having a great performance at the Croatan 24. The grueling event is a 24 hour race where competitors cover as much distance as possible in a 24 hour period. The event is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. Despite unfavorable weather (83 degrees and raining) Jason ran 108.8 miles in the 24 hour race. The distance was a personal best for Jason and earned him a 3rd place finish. Full results are available here. I felt strong the entire way, both physically and mentally. No doubt CrossFit has worked for me in building up the strength to handle the pounding of training and racing like I have been these last few years. Its also helps with my quick recovery. - Jason LeDoyen This isn't Jason's first experience with ultra distances. Just last year, Jason completed the incredible 367 mile Tarheel Ultra Run.

Run Jason Run

In a couple days, millions of Americans will kick off their Thanksgiving celebrations with a 5km road race. The "Turkey Trot" has become a tradition across the country. Some take the race seriously while others just do it for fun and family time. Whatever the case, a 5km run can be a challenge. But imagine if you were to finish your 5km race and then do it again, and again, and again....until you had done it 118 times in a row before you were done. As unfathomable as that sounds, Athletic Lab member Jason Ledoyen will be attempting to do just that in the Tarheel Ultra run....a 367 mile (590 km) running journey across the state of North Carolina. You can see the course here. The race starts begins on November 29th in Corova Beach, NC (Virginia state line) and finishes in Calabash, NC (South Carolina state line). Jason first started at Athletic Lab in preparation for his first 100m race a couple years ago. And now that he has several 100 milers under his belt, he wanted to up the ante. Despite having an 8.5 day window to compete the course, Jason plans to run 60 miles per day for 5 days. You can track Jason's progress on this amazing journey online HERE. Be sure to wish him good luck if you see him in the final days of his preparation. I feel confident in my training - successfully mixing a heavy dose of CrossFit with my running. A huge thanks goes to the entire Athletic Lab team for helping me prepare. My strength, stamina, and mental toughness are much improved through working with you. - Jason LeDoyen
