Athletic Lab is excited to announce our comprehensive 2026 Coaching Academy series - four quarterly education events designed to elevate your coaching expertise and business acumen. Led by Athletic Lab's Mike Young and our expert staff, each session combines cutting-edge sports science with practical application. Event Schedule & Focus Areas Event 1: Weightlifting Mastery Saturday, January 17, 2026* Athletic Lab has a long history of success both in the sport of weightlifting as well as using weightlifting movements for overall athletic development. Master the technical and programming aspects of Olympic weightlifting and strength development. This hands-on workshop covers movement mechanics, progressions, and corrective strategies for athletes at all levels. Event 2: Speed & Power Development Saturday, June 13, 2026* This event is a deep dive into the science and application of speed training, plyometrics, and power development. Learn evidence-based methods for improving acceleration, maximum velocity, and reactive strength through both theoretical understanding and practical drills. Event 3: Long-Term Athletic Development Saturday, August 1, 2026* If you work with youth athletes, this event is not to be missed. We'll explore periodization strategies, youth development models, and career-spanning training approaches. CHPC Level 2 in São Paulo

Athletic Lab, in partnership with ELITE Training, held a Level 2 Certified High Performance Coach (formerly Athletic Lab Phase 2 Mentorship) on the last weekend of February. The course was held in São Paulo, Brazil. São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil. Athletic Lab has collaborated with ELITE Training since 2017. Together the companies have brought our three phase course to Portugal and Brazil. ELITE Training is one of the largest coaching education companies in the world. The Certified High Performance Coach (CHPC) is the 3 tier certification course of the newly formed Athletic Lab Academy. The CHPC sets the standard for high performance coaching education and provides an in-depth understanding of the Athletic Lab training philosophy. The CHPC covers both the underlying sports science and practical application by combining academic and experiential learning . The course is modeled after our on-site coaching mentorship program. Athletic Lab's coaching education initiatives are recognized around the world. We provide online and in-person lectures and seminars around the world. Hundreds of coaches in the United States, Portugal, Brazil, Istanbul and Taiwan have participated in the Athletic Lab Academy. Mike Young presents at UKSCA Roundtable

Athletic Lab's Dr. Mike Young recently participated in a roundtable on "Facility Ownership / Self Employment in Strength & Conditioning." The roundtable was hosted by the United Kingdom Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA). The UKSCA is the largest organization for strength and conditioning coaches in the United Kingdom and considered one of the top in the world. The roundtable featured 5 panelists and was hosted by the UKSCA's Rich Clarke. Young was the only participant from outside of the United Kingdom. Young delivered the keynote at the 2019 UKSCA Annual Conference. Promotions and additions highlight Athletic Lab staff restructure

Athletic Lab is proud to announce additions and promotions to our coaching staff. The following changes make the Athletic lab team the deepest it has ever been: Austin Both has been promoted to Associate Performance Director. Alex Penner has been promoted to Director of Coaching and Community. Beau Hains, MS joins our staff in the role of Director of Team Sports. Craig Kleinberg, MA, John Bruni, Brian Barnes, MS and Antonio Faneite join the Athletic Lab coaching staff. Athletic Lab already has one of the most educated, experienced and credentialed coaching staffs in the entire country and we look forward to these changes making us stronger than ever. Austin Both: Associate Performance Director Austin Both has been promoted to Associate Performance Director. Austin first joined Athletic Lab as part of our Coaching Mentorship in 2017. Prior to his mentorship, Austin completed internships with Saddlebrook Sports Performance and the University of Tampa. Austin earned his degree in Human Performance after completing his enlistment with the U.S. Army as an indirect fire infantryman. During his time at Athletic Lab he has served as an assistant with the North Carolina Courage and was previously the General Manager at Athletic Lab. In his new role, Austin will assist with day to day operations and coaching quality control, and oversee programming and administration of our Scholastic Sports Performance Program. Austin has proven himself as a great asset to our staff. He's a great leader, respected coach, and is willing to do whatever is necessary to move us forward. Athletic Lab hosts Phase 3 Mentorship

Athletic Lab, in partnership with ELITE Training, recently hosted a Phase 3 Elite Coach mentorship. Almost 20 coaches from Brazil and Portugal attended the 2 week course. The one of a kind immersive mentorship featured: Daily lectures from Mike Young and other Athletic Lab Staff Guest lectures from trusted leaders in the field of sports performance Observation of elite athlete training sessions Hands on learning for coaching skills Participation in training sessions Sports technology workshops Coaches were assessed throughout the 2 weeks to ensure that only the most knowledgable and deserving would graduate with the Phase 3 Elite Coach distinction. The mentorship provided an in-depth understanding of the Athletic Lab training philosophy. The course was modeled after our on-site coaching mentorship program. Mike Young delivers 2 Day Speed-Power Workshop in Taipei, Taiwan

Athletic Lab's Mike Young recently provided a 2 day Speed & Power Development Workshop in Taipei, Taiwan. Twenty coaches attended the event. Sportsline Asia sponsored the workshop. Sportsline Asia is one of the leading coaching education companies in Taiwan. Young taught on a wide range of topics over the 2 day course. Among the topics covered were sprinting technique, plyometric progressions, and methods to enhance the transfer of training of strength training to speed. The course combined classroom and learn by doing opportunities. The UK, Ireland, South Korea, Brazil and Taiwan have hosted similar events.
