Athletic Lab Weightlifting Team at 2026 Nationals

Five members of the Athletic Lab Weightlifting Team recently competed in the 2025 USA Weightlifting National Championships. The meet was held in Colorado Springs, CO. Below are the results of each lifter for the Athletic Lab Weightlifting Team. Overall, the team brought home three medals, three top 10 finishers, 1 National Champion, and multiple meet personal records. Tim Neal wins Weightlifting National Championship

Congratulations to Tim Neal on an outstanding performance at the USA Weightlifting Junior National Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado earlier this month, where he earned a gold medal in one of the nation's most competitive junior divisions. Tim is a long time member of the Athletic Lab Weightlifting Team coached by USA Weightlifting National Coach Jarrod Nobbe. Weightlifting National Championships Week brings together the country's top youth, junior, U25, and senior lifters, making every medal hard-earned. Tim rose to the challenge with a personal record in the clean & jerk to secure the top spot on the podium. Congratulations, Tim on becoming a USA Weightlifting Junior National Champion! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishment and look forward to seeing what comes next as you continue to represent Athletic Lab on the national stage.

May Member of the Month: Angelo Olcese

Angelo Olcese is the May 2026 Athletic Lab Member of the Month. Name: Angelo Olcese What do you do when you’re not training at Athletic Lab (occupation, hobbies, etc)? I am a software engineer during the day, and a semi-professional Ultimate Frisbee player  in the evenings. I captain both the professional team The Carolina Flyers as well as a club team called Raleigh Durham United. The rest of my time is spent supporting my wife, Alex, as she trains to become a thoracic surgeon. What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite? Favorite: Power Cleans. Least Favorite: Rear foot elevated split squats. What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since you started training? In the gym, I improved my RSI metric 30+% (I never previously identified as a springy athlete). Athletic Lab Hosts Successful March Madness Weightlifting Meet

Athletic Lab recently hosted our annual Winter Weightlifting Classic, a USA Weightlifting sanctioned event that brought together the region’s lifting community for an action-packed day of competition. The competition ran for an exciting 12 hours on Saturday, March 21st. We were proud to host 69 athletes representing 14 different clubs, competing across four high-energy sessions throughout the day. Ten members of the Athletic Lab Weightlifting Team recently competed in the 2025 USA Weightlifting Virus Weightlifting Finals and UMWF World Championships. The meet was held in Daytona Beach, FL. Neal medals highlight Athletic Lab Weightlifting at Virus Weightlifting Series I

In early March, the Athletic Lab Weightlifting Club traveled to Columbus, OH, to compete in the VIRUS Weightlifting Series I & National University Championships.
