Member of the Month: Elijah Dawes

The commonality across our diverse member base is that they are hard-working and goal-oriented. Each month we highlight one or more of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of June we've selected Elijah Dawes. Elijah Dawes is a track athlete that has recently committed to NC State Track & Field team, after overcoming a hip surgery through hard work and perseverance. What do you do when you’re not training at Athletic Lab (occupation, hobbies, etc)? Video games, going to the movies, I'm a student, graduating from northwest Guilford High school on June 9. What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite?  Favorite is power clean; least favorite is core exercises What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since you started training? I broke 48 seconds in the 400 meter sprint and that was a huge accomplishment,  one that I had been working toward for a long time. Also, receiving a scholarship to run at NC State this fall has been really exciting. I couldn't have done it without Joe Sheryak and Athletic Lab. Josh Colley places 8th at USA Track & Field Indoor Championships

Athletic Lab Track & Field Club's Josh Colley recently represented the club at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships. Colley placed 8th in the long jump. It was his third time competing in a national championship event. Colley qualified for the final of the championships on his 2nd attempt of the meet but was unfortunately unable to finish the competition due to an injury. His best mark was 7.36 m (24'1.75"). The event marked the 5th straight indoor championships with at least one Athletic Lab Track & Field Club (ALTC) member. The Athletic Lab Track Club is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Track & Field club for elite & emerging elite athletes. The Athletic Lab Track Club has a long history of success at the elite level having produced multiple national champions and international competitors. This is particularly true in the jumping and multi-events (decathlon / heptathlon). Athletic Lab Track Club boasts 5 athletes who have won National Championships or Masters National Championships and 1 who has won a Masters World Championship in these events. Member of the Month: Amanda Pasko

We have a vibrant and diverse community ranging from fitness enthusiasts looking to get in the best shape of their lives to elite professional athletes. The commonality across our diverse member base is that they are hard-working and goal-oriented. Each month we highlight one or more of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of October we've selected Amanda Pasko. Amanda is a member of the Athletic Lab Track Club - a 501-C3 non-profit coached by Mike Young and operating out of Athletic Lab with the goal of supporting post-collegiate emerging and emerging Olympic sport athletes. Amanda recently won her second World Championship of the year in an ultra multi-event. Her performance in the 20-event icosathlon at the world championships in Delft, Netherlands added to her previous world championship win in the indoor tetradecathlon from earlier in 2022. Athletic Lab Track Club qualifies 3 for Team USA

The Athletic Lab Track & Field Club recently qualified 3 athletes to represent Team USA. The team sent Will Eggers, Jack Flood and Dylan Cooper to the USA Track & Field Outdoor Combined Events National Championships. The event took place in Fayetteville, AR. All 3 athletes competed in the decathlon. The decathlon is a two day, 10 event men's outdoor track and field event. On Day 1, athletes contest the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m. On Day 2, athletes contest the 110m high hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m. The event is considered one of the best tests of all-around athleticism in sport and the Olympic champion in the event is crowned the "World's Greatest Athlete." The 2022 Outdoor National Championships represents the 9th time the club has qualified multiple athletes to compete. It is the 7th time, the club has had multiple athletes compete in a multi-event. Earlier in the year, the Athletic Lab Track Club qualified 4 athletes to compete in the indoor heptathlon. At the indoor championships, the team placed 3rd, 4th, 8th and 9th lead by Jack Flood. At the recent USA Track & Field Outdoor Combined Events National Championships, Dylan Cooper lead the team with a 6th place finish followed by Jack Flood and Will Eggers in 7th and 9th respectively. As a result of their placings, all 3 athletes will represent Team USA at the Thorpe Cup later this year. The club previously qualified athletes for the Thorpe Cup in 2011 (Edward Broadbent) and 2019 (Jack Flood). Athletic Lab Track Club compete at National level

The Athletic Lab Track & Field Club recently sent 4 athletes to the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships. All 4 athletes competed in the indoor heptathlon. The 2022 National Championships represents the 8th time the club has qualified multiple athletes to compete. It is the 6th time, the club has had multiple athletes compete in the heptathlon. The heptathlon is a two day, 7 event men's indoor track and field event. On Day 1, athletes contest the 60m, long jump, shot put and high jump. On Day 2, athletes contest the 60m high hurdles, pole vault and 1,000m. The team placed 3rd, 4th, 8th and 9th. Team members Jack Flood and Dylan Cooper battled for top position and both finished with personal bests in the event. They were followed bu Will Eggers and Joe Sheryak. Eggers also finished with a lifetime best. The Athletic Lab Track Club is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Track & Field club for elite & emerging elite athletes. Member of the Month: Dylan Cooper

For the month of February we've selected Dylan Cooper. Dylan is a member of the Athletic Lab Track Club. He recently won a heptathlon at Liberty University. His mark qualified him for the USA Track & Field Indoor Track & Field National Championships and at the time of the event was ranked 5th in the world. Member of the Month: Jack Flood

For the month of June we've selected Jack Flood who recently competed at the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials in the decathlon where he scored over 8,000 points for the second time in a month and placed 9th in one of the deepest fields in US history. Jack is a member of the Athletic Lab Track Club and in 2019, represented the US in the Thorpe Cup. Members of the Month: Sarah Glidden and Ty Grob

The common thread across all our members is that they are hard-working and goal-oriented. Each month we highlight one or more of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of February, we've chosen Sarah Glidden and Ty Grob. Sarah and Ty are members of the Athletic Lab Track Club and recently turned in performances in the pentathlon and heptathlon which ranked them in the top 15 in the world. My least favorite exercise are reverse lunges cause they hurt my toes. My favorite exercise is Turkish get ups, because THEY'RE GREAT. What do you enjoy most about competing post-collegiately My favorite part about competing post collegiately is that I get to compete against the best in the U.S./World. I love trying to beat the best no matter the odds and the challenge is what makes it fun. Jack Flood’s bronze leads Athletic Lab Track Club at USATF Combined Championships

Two members of Athletic Lab's Track & Field Club recently competed at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships in Annapolis, MD . Jack Flood and Will Eggers both competed in the heptathlon. The heptathlon is a grueling seven event competition contested over 2 consecutive days. Points are awarded based on the performance in each of the 7 events. The event is the indoor equivalent of the decathlon. Jack and Will both had banner days and placed 3rd and 8th respectively. Flood set a personal best in the event with a score of 5,714. Will had a seasonal best performance of 5,221. Jack Flood is a former collegiate Division 3 National Champion for the University of Cortland and has represented the US at the prestigious Thorpe Cup. Will is a former Big East conference champion in the heptathlon. The Athletic Lab Track Club has a long history of success in elite level Track & Field in general and the combined events in particular. The 2020 USATF Championship marks the 5th time that the club has placed 2 or more athletes at a combined event national championships. In 2008, Athletic Lab Track Club athlete Eric Broadbent won the event. Additionally, Masters athlete Jef Souza has won multiple national and world championships for the club. Jack Flood represents USA places 4th in Thorpe Cup

Multi-event athlete Jack Flood represented the USA in finishing 4th at the prestigious Thorpe Cup Decathlon in Germany. Flood is a member of the Athletic Lab Track Club. Jack qualified for Team USA on the merit of his 8th place finish in the Decathlon at the USA Track & Field Outdoor National Championships in Des Moines, IA. The Thorpe Cup is an annual international decathlon and heptathlon contested between Germany and the USA. The event is named after the famous Olympic decathlete Jim Thorpe. In Germany, Flood scored 7,601 points on his way to a 4th place finish. The performance marked Flood's third time over the 7,600 point mark in 2019. The Athletic Lab Track Club provides world class coaching and a supportive training environment for post-collegiate athletes as they pursue national and international competitive careers. The Athletic Lab Track Club has a long history of success at the elite level having produced multiple national champions and international competitors. This is particularly true in the heptathlon and decathlon. Athletic Lab Track Club boasts 5 athletes who have won National Championships or Masters National Championships and 1 who has won a Masters World Championship. Most notably, Eric Broadbent won the 2012 Indoor National Championships in the heptathlon with a score of 5,908. Broadbent later went on to compete in the 2012 Olympic Olympic trials. Also, Jef Souza is the current American Masters record holder in the Pentathlon in 2 age categories. Souza has won multiple National and World Championships in the multi-events.
